Fly to St. Lucia in Mint Condition: On November 5, JetBlue launched seasonal Mint flights to St. Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), offering a business class option for those who want to upgrade their trip from New York (JFK) to paradise. If you haven’t seen or experienced there new upgraded cabins, check them out here. Travelers can enjoy lie-flat seats, a massage feature and cushions with adjustable firmness. Direct roundtrip flights will operate every Saturday through Spring 2017, with one daily flight during peak holiday travel dates.
Where to Stay in Paradise: If you decide to head to St. Lucia, I suggest staying at Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort, and booking a villa at The Residences (although really any of their accommodations would suit). When night falls, the Anse des Pitons beach comes alive with marine life, creating the perfect locale for night snorkeling. Guests can dive in around 7 pm to see octopus, squid, trumpet fish, needle fish, trigger fish, parrot fish, moray eels and sometimes sea horses. The sea is lit up with plankton, which reflect the torchlight of snorkelers and create a twinkling effect under the water.
Do Good via Instagram: When I learned about the Ruby Cup, I immediately thought back to when I lived in Taipei, Taiwan, and my Canadian friend, who was constantly heading to remote areas of Asia to backpack, kept telling me (in her strong Canadian accent), “You gotta get the KEEPER!” Back then (10+ years ago), menstrual cups were a new concept that was becoming popular for traveling women who couldn’t get access to pads and tampons easily when traveling. I um…never really went to remote places (I hate backpacking!)…so I never bought the Keeper, although I did go to the archaic-looking website a few times to consider the cost savings. I digress. Anyway, enter Ruby Cup, which donates a cup to a school girl in Africa after one is purchased. Their new campaign on Instagram will donate a cup on your behalf if you post a picture with something red in it and use #POST1GIVE1 and tag @RubyCup. Love it!
Because all I do is drink tea to stay awake: The Berkeley in London launched the original fashion tea, Prêt-à-Portea, in 2006 featuring sweets and snacks inspired by that season’s collections. For its 10th anniversary this year, the hotel is releasing Prêt-à-Portea, High Fashion Cakes and Cookies. The book will showcase over twenty formerly secret recipes for couture cakes and cookies featuring styles from top designers including Burberry, Diane von Furstenberg, and Christian Louboutin. Get the hardcover book on Amazon and in book stores across the country for $14.99.
